The main TFEIP event in 2004 took place in Pallanza in northern Italy. The event started with a scientific workshop on PM Emission Inventories on 18 October, followed by a Joint Task Force on Emission Inventories and Projections (TFEIP) and EIONET meeting, focusing on guidebook, reporting and review issues, on 19-20 October. On 21 October a workshop on QA/QC was arranged.
All the meetings were organised by the European Commission's Joint Research Center, Institute for Environment and Sustainability.
The Task Force on Emission Inventories and Projections met on 19-20 October 2005 in Pallanza (Italy). The meeting was the fifth to be organized jointly with the European Environment Information and Observation Network (EIONET) maintained by the European Environment Agency (EEA). The Task Force considered the status of emission reporting to the Convention during the 2004 reporting round (2002 data), the second consecutive year data was submitted in accordance with the Emission Reporting Guidelines adopted by the Steering Body at its twenty-sixth session (ECE/EB.AIR/80). The Task Force agreed: on the timing, methods and procedures for an inventory review and improvement programme, to consider the continued management of the EMEP/CORINAIR Atmospheric Emission Inventory Guidebook and seek additional resources; to focus its work in the coming year on heavy metal, POPs and particulate matter (PM) emissions, and to extend its work more effectively to the Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asian (EECCA) countries. The Task Force considered the results of a scientific workshop on PM emission inventories and addressed technical and reporting issues within expert panels on: inventory review and emissions of agriculture, nature, transport, combustion and industry. A training workshop on data quality assurance was held on 21 October 2005 in Ispra (Italy), following the Task Force meeting. The Task Force considered its work-plan and addressed scientific and strategic issues, some of which were highlighted in a poster session.
